Matthias Evers, PhD

Senior Partner, McKinsey & Company

Dr. Matthias Evers is a Senior Partner in McKinsey’s Hamburg office and co-leader of the EMEA Pharmaceuticals and Medical Products (PMP) R&D and Medical Practice. Since joining the firm in 2002, Matthias engaged with pharmaceuticals clients in EU but also in the US and in Asia transforming R&D organisations to overcome innovation and productivity issues through deep-rooted transformatory approaches; especially with focus on critical junctures and capabilities in early clinical development and in the late-stage clinical, medical, and commercialization space. In addition, he has engaged in translating learnings between innovator and generics R&D (e.g. on biosimilars) as well as supporting a cross-industry dialog on drug innovation in multiple settings in Europe and the U.S.

Matthias holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry/Biochemistry from the University of Bochum with a particular focus on Neuroscience. Before his career with McKinsey, he worked as a Research Associate and Postdoctorate at a Center for Molecular Neurobiology in Hamburg. He authored several articles in the field of bioinformatics and molecular biology.
